Happy Summer!
“The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right path for his name’s sake.” -Psalm 23: 1 – 3
Summer is a good time to find solace in God’s presence, revealed through nature during your well-deserved vacation. During your vacation, find a church near your stay, whether it’s at the beach, in the mountains, by lakes, or in Europe. You will have a unique experience in that faith community.
A few years ago, I took a trip to the UK with fellow pastors to study John Wesley’s heritage and trace his footsteps throughout England. However, due to our tightly packed schedule, attending a physical church service became a challenge.
As a group of believers, we decided to embrace the spirit of worship by transforming our bus into a sanctuary for Sunday worship. One person led us in uplifting praise and worship songs, while another took the opportunity to read scriptures that resonated with our hearts. One of our pastors shared a personal testimony, and together we offered prayers for our own churches and for the churches across Europe. It was a truly remarkable worship experience, filled with a sense of unity and reverence.
This unique encounter taught us that worship is not confined to a specific location or building. Wherever we find ourselves, we can gather as believers and honor God through our collective praise, scripture reading, sharing testimonies, and intercession. It was a testament to the fact that God’s presence knows no bounds and that He can be worshiped and glorified in any setting.
Just as our impromptu bus worship reminded us of the essential nature of worship in our lives, may this anecdote inspire you to seek opportunities for worship, even when circumstances may seem challenging. Let us remember that worship is not limited to the confines of a physical church, but rather is a heartfelt connection with God that can be fostered and celebrated wherever we go.
May God bless your summer!
